Short Biography
Tong Lin is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Brandeis University, where her research focused on the neural and behavioral mechanisms underlying empathy and emotion perception. Her doctoral work used EEG, facial expression analysis, and machine learning to investigate neural and behavioral markers of empathy during naturalistic social interactions.
At OptiLab, Tong's research focuses on interpersonal synchrony and the development of multimodal approaches for understanding social and therapeutic interactions. She is particularly interested in integrating EEG, ECG, behavioral, and self-report measures to examine how interpersonal attunement and neural and physiological synchrony relate to therapeutic processes and outcomes. Her broader research interests include social and affective neuroscience, interpersonal dynamics, and the application of computational methods to multimodal physiological data.
