Short Biography
Jordan Kohn is an Assistant Project Scientist in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Sciences and in the Department of Psychiatry. He received a B.A. in Biology from Reed College in 2009, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Emory University in 2016.
Dr. Kohn’s research is focused on understanding the biopsychosocial factors that confer risk for and resilience to aging and neuropsychiatric illness. This research leverages experimental and epidemiologic studies of immune, neuroendocrine, cognitive, and psychosocial parameters and uses advanced biostatistical methods (e.g., machine learning) to examine their effects on clinical outcomes. Since joining UCSD in 2017, Dr. Kohn has received funding support from NIH, the San Diego Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, the Stein Institute for Research on Aging, and the T. Denny Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion, leading to over 30 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Kohn mentors undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, and clinical research fellows, and provides biostatistical support to multiple PIs and research groups across UCSD campus. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, silent meditation retreats, backpacking, cooking and baking, visiting family, and spending quality time with his partner and cat.
